Meet Desirae
Desirae Lewis is a Wetumpka native and a graduate of Wetumpka High School. She graduated magna cum laude from The University of Alabama in 2011. She then obtained her Juris Doctor, from Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in 2014. After receiving her law degree, Desirae served the State of Alabama as a prosecutor under District Attorney Randall V. Houston of the 19th Judicial Circuit. In 2016, Desirae moved into private practice and currently serves the citizens of central Alabama as a general practitioner of the Lewis Law Firm, PC located in Wetumpka, Alabama. She enjoys practicing and focuses on a wide range of law from circuit court and district court defense, juvenile guardian ad litem work, juvenile delinquency defense, small claim lawsuits, child support cases, and district civil cases. She is certified to practice federal law in the Alabama Middle District Court. Desirae also served as the first Municipal Court Judge for the Town of Coosada.
Desirae is a County Commissioner for Elmore County and began serving her second term on November 13, 2024. She was previously elected on November 11, 2020, becoming the youngest person ever elected to the Elmore County Commission. As a county commissioner, Desirae appreciates the privilege of serving Elmore County residents, advocating for numerous quality of life projects and fiscal opportunities to benefit the county.
Desirae is active in the community and involved with numerous organizations, In 2022, she was appointed by Governor Kay Ivey to serve on the Alabama Local Government Training Institute. She serves as the Chairman of the Elmore County Mental Health Task Force and the Health Care Task Force, the Elmore County representative for MidSouth RC & D, is a representative of Minority Steering Committee, President of the Elmore County Emanon Group, member of the Elmore County Children’s Policy Council, and a founding member of the West Elmore Lions Club. She has also served as the immediate past President of the Elmore County Bar Association.
Desirae Lewis is married to Regis Jackson, also of Wetumpka, and together they have 3 children Raelyn, Riley, and Brayden. She is a member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she serves as the church secretary and is a member of the church choir. She also enjoys spoiling her sweet baby boy, traveling, fishing, and participating in local theatre productions.
